Incompetent crony flops in Indonesia

She's also ignorant:

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) -- Karen Hughes, who has faced a rocky road since being named Washington's public relations chief, answered tough questions Friday about the invasion of Iraq, and wrongly stated that Saddam Hussein gassed to death "hundreds of thousands" of his people.
... One student said the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States should be taken as a warning to America for interfering in the affairs of other countries. Another compared Bush to Hitler.

Next flop, Malaysia.

Okay, I know she's shilling, and that she's sold her soul to the devil and all, but in some ways, I do feel sorry for Karen Hughes.

She has been given an impossible job, to convince the Muslim world that we don't hate Islam, after the desecration of the bodies yesterday, the atrocities at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo, and all the rest.

And she's got to go around the world and get just hammered in front of reporters over and over as they report that she's failing at her task.

    What a shitty job.

But I guess she'll get the payoff when Bush promotes her to something she's totally unqualified for.

Oh,two things that aren't in this article that I saw elsewhere.

    1) All this criticism was from a crowd that was prescreened.
    2) Have you noticed that all her crowds at these things are women, very often students?

So, prescreened women from a repressive society, tough crowd. And she's still losing.

And you're right. Ignorance/Lying isn't going to help her cause.

    Mike

It gets even worse. Check out this WaPo piece from this morning.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/10/21/AR2005102101870.html

Not only did she lie, but when asked about it hours later, she continued to lie.

    "
Hours later, Hughes was asked twice for the basis for her numbers during a meeting with journalists from foreign news organizations.

"It's something that our U.S. government has said a number of times in the past. It's information that was used very widely after his attack on the Kurds. I believe it was close to 300,000," Hughes said when questioned the first time. She added, "That's something I said every day in the course of the campaign. That's information that we talked about a great deal in America."

When asked again several minutes later, she said, "I think it was almost 300,000. It's my recollection. They were put in mass graves."
    "

    Unbelievable.
