Glad somebody cleared this up

What was Fitzgerald talking to the judge about today? LATimes:

A ... possibility was that Fitzgerald was seeking the judge's permission to extend the term of the grand jury. But people close to the case said they considered that unlikely.
Among other factors, they noted that the grand jury that Fitzgerald has been using has already been extended once, and that federal court rules do not provide for further extensions.
At the same time, it was possible that he was discussing with the judge using another grand jury to present his case, these sources said.

Thank you. Because Reuters, AP and others have repeatedly reported that it might be extended.

NBC reporter (segment on hardball) gave three possibilities for the meeting.

1)Fitzgerald was seeking an extension(reporter said unlikely.)

2)Fitzgerald was seeking sealed indictments and wanted to discuss the details with the judge.

    3) Fitzgerald was trying to get the grand jury to meet on a day which it wasn't scheduled(That would be Thursday.)

It is also possible to indict some people now and then pass over a second set of crimes that may be related and involve the same people to a new grand jury. For example, Indict Rove and Libby for perjury/obstruction by Friday, then empanel another grand jury to look at the Niger forgeries or cooking the intel which might include Rove and Libby as well.
