The road to Iraq, paved with mendacity
Many Americans finally believe W and friends used phony WMD claims to gin up a war against the guy who "tried to kill my dad," as W said. Charles J. Hanley, AP special correspondent, provides a lengthy (that's the only kind Hanley writes) and detailed chronology demonstrating that those many Americans are correct. Pack a lunch, it's here. Conclusion:
Our president and his pals, incapable of telling the truth.
As late as Sept. 30 last year, in an election debate, Bush stuck to his views.
"Saddam Hussein had no intention of disarming," Bush maintained.
A week before, [Charles] Duelfer had conveyed his 1,000-page final report to the CIA, saying Saddam had disarmed 13 years earlier.
Our president and his pals, incapable of telling the truth.
